How does this affect my trip?
The pedway-to-street elevator located in the Roosevelt station transfer tunnel between the Green/Orange elevated lines and the Red Line subway is temporarily out of service.

Transferring between the Roosevelt elevated and subway stations via the transfer tunnel will be available by stairs and escalator only.

For accessible service:

  • Enter/exit the Roosevelt elevated station on Roosevelt between State and Wabash.
     
  • Enter/exit the Roosevelt Red Line subway station on State north of Roosevelt.
     
  • Accessible free transfer between the Red and Orange lines is available between Jackson and Harold Washington Library stations (farecard required). Transfer between the Green and Orange lines on the Roosevelt elevated platform.
     
  • Transfer between the Roosevelt elevated and subway stations is also available via the street, walking between the two stations. (Tap to re-enter for an automatic free transfer—farecard or ticket required.)

The elevator is estimated to return to service on Sunday, December 31, 2023 (date subject to change).

Why is service being changed?
We are upgrading the transfer tunnel elevator at Roosevelt station to ensure continued safe, convenient service.
