TRANSIT LOUNGE 2008 > Katie Hepworth
print
Katie Hepworth is an architect, artist and researcher. The reinterpretation of and engagements with the architecture of space are key concerns: moving beyond just buildings - her work addresses the realms of the public and private and their personal and political manifestations. It aims to expose the latent conditions in the urban environment, exploring subtle interventions that disrupt everyday behaviours.

Her work has been exhibited across Australia, Malaysia, Germany and England. In 2005 and 2006 she co-directed the Transit Lounge, a series of collaborative residencies for Australian and European artists and architects in Berlin. The Transit Lounge was a partner event of the Transmediale, and was responsible for curating a series of talks on Australian art and architecture for the German Architecture Centre (DAZ), leading up to their exhibition Living the Modern-Australian? Architecture. Following on from her work with the Transit Lounge, Katie worked as a co-producer and artist on Sounds Unusual – Northern Territory Festival of New Music.

She is currently completing her Masters in International Studies at the University of Technology, Sydney.
